How is an Exercise Physiologist different from a Personal Trainer?
An exercise physiologist is a nationally recognised allied health professional who is qualified to provide exercise rehabilitation for people with chronic and complex illness or injury.
An exercise physiologist has attended university for 4 years and has a vast experience base in order to be accredited with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
General Practitioners can refer to an exercise physiologist under the national Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program which will attract a medicare rebate. Further, most major health funds provide rebates for exercise physiology services.
